What with my love of heavy metal and sport, doing weights with Slipknot blaring out of the speaker’s in-
between attending art classes, I am not what most people envisage a person working in accountancy to be like.
So why accountancy?
As a child growing up, I enjoyed logic problems. Numbers have always been a strength of mine, therefore, choosing a career in finance was inevitable.
At university, accountancy was a subject I thoroughly enjoyed and excelled at, because of this I chose it as a main subject for my second year. My Mother was an accountant and what with my colour blindness it made more sense to follow her career path rather than my Dads and become an electrician, scratching my head over which wire is which!
During my induction here at Genie Accountancy Helen Christopher, Director of Genie Accountancy mentioned the aim was to create an atmosphere where employees enjoyed coming into work, and this I believe has definitely been achieved.
